The Amber rose slutwalk

SlutWalk is a transnational movement of protest marches calling for an end to rape culture. Specifically, participants protest against explaining or excusing rape by referring to any aspect of a woman's appearance.

New-age Feminist / Model / Actress / Fashion Designer / Ex of Kanye WestAmber Rose is spearheading the SlutWalk movement in LA and raising awareness whilst empowering not just Women but LGBT folks as well.

Amber is using her fame to elevate the status of the event, where the LGBT community, survivors, daughters, grandmothers, sisters, brothers and kids can march together and have a voice against the plague of sexual assult, victim blaming and so-called 'diminished responsibility.'

This subject matter is hard to talk about and address, and still holds enormous stigma in our modern, and generally 'forward-thinking' society.

This year Amber led the march through the streets of Los Angeles, with her celebrity friends (including Nicki Minaj and Blac Chyna) and influencers with an enormous, beautiful following.

At one point during the day Amber gave an emotionally-driven account of her own personal experience of 'slut-shaming' and became visibly distressed as she did so. And as a victim of sexual assault myself this is something I can understand wanting to bring to the fore in order to raise awareness, but equally the difficulty in letting it be known that you fell foul to foul play, by a Man. However, I believe she will have found strength in the opportunity to share this with so many who stand beside her on this deeply worrying and seemingly never-ending issue.

Infact recently Amber was so vocal about her 'slut-shaming' past, she publicly ridiculed Kanye West in a Twitter feud. See below for your reference... She killed it!

Basically, Yeezy called her a stripper - which she was once - but there is nothing wrong with that. And he tried to shame her for it, so she wiped the floor with him. Legend. Twitter shutdown followed by some great pics from the SlutWalk this year :)
